Board of Directors
Camp Fire USA serves
youth from birth to 21
years of age, by teaching
them personal life skills,
leadership abilities,
healthy attitudes, positive
self-images and a sense of
social responsibility.
• Camp Fire USA was founded in 1910 as Camp Fire Girls, and has been
coeducational since 1975 when it became Camp Fire Boys & Girls.
In August 2001, the organization became Camp Fire USA, a change that
improved the organization’s ability to serve its mission of “building caring,
confident youth and future leaders”.
• Chartered in 1953, Panhandle Plains Council currently serves over 800
youth and their families yearly in Amarillo, Bushland, Highland Park and
River Road Independent School Districts. We are also chartered to serve
youth in the 26 counties of the Panhandle as well.
• Camp Fire USA partners with families and communities to develop
every youth into an individual and a leader.
• Camp Fire USA works to realize the dignity and worth of each individual
and strives to eliminate all human barriers based on assumptions that
prejudge individuals.
• Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, Camp Fire USA is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization funded by fees for services, businesses, foundations,
and the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon.
